Telerik blogs

Couple of days ago Microsoft unveiled Surface Pro 3 - the device “that can replace your laptop”. The Surface Pro 3 is thinner, lighter and has all the prerequisites to be your next shiny toy. The focus of this blog post would not be the device specs though but its impact on the applications. If you’re still looking for a hands-on review, you can check this awesome post by The Verge.

So, a couple of things drew my attention. First, it looks like the world is paying closer attention at Windows 8.1 and Surface. At Microsoft's launch event, Adobe showed off a sneak peek of a new touch-optimized version of Photoshop CC. In addition The New York Times will be releasing a crossword puzzle app with an "exclusive pen experience" soon.

The other thing was the new 3:2 ratio and the fact that it caused some confusion among developers. People were wondering whether this changes anything about the way they design and develop their Windows apps. It doesn’t! At the end, it is still up to you to decide what would be the best layout for your app and users.

What can you expect from Telerik?

At this year’s //build conference Microsoft announced the new Universal Windows Platform – a new paradigm allowing developers to write code once and deploy on multiple Windows devices, ranging from phone and tablet to an XBOX. We stated our commitment to the platform and we’ll continue to invest in it. It goes without saying that it is a matter of time before we give you the most complete, performant and touch-optimized suite of universal UI controls. We’re already working on several truly universal controls. If you want to learn more about them, send an email to universalwindows [at] telerik [dot] com
