Telerik blogs

I am happy to share with you that the Q2 2012 Beta of Telerik’s ASP.NET AJAX controls is here and you can try it right away. Just as the Q1 2012 SP1 was full of fixes, today’s Beta is full of new features and controls. Let’s have a quick trip.

NEW CONTROLS

Barcode – The control allows you to visualize barcodes for your products using the most popular standards. It’s really easy to use and configure. The resulting image is rendered as SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) in the modern browsers where HTML5 allows embedding SVG in your web pages. In older browsers the output comes as VML (Vector Markup Language). See Demos

HtmlChart – Telerik’s new ASP.NET AJAX chart component is HTML5-based with pure client-side rendering and features the most important chart types you need for your line-of-business applications. Take advantage of its flexible data-binding and remarkable performance. See Demos

ODataDataSource – This control will allow you to use the Visual Studio Designer to query any OData service supporting JSON. XML support is coming with the Q2 2012 official release. Then you can build your data model(s) to easily display the data in your pages. See Demos

NEW FEATURES FOR EXISTING CONTROLS

Track changes for RadEditor – Last Q Telerik’s ASP.NET AJAX Editor added a new feature allowing you to add comments to the content you have created. With this Beta release you can also keep track of the changes made by a user while editing the content. See Demos

Drill down and load on demand for RadOrgChart – Improve the performance of your ASP.NET AJAX OrgChart controls by leveraging the load on demand functionality. Or if you have big charts with lots of items, enable the drill down functionality for better usability and experience. See Demos

AdRotator functionality for RadRotator – Do you have a lot of cases where you need to bind a list of banners to a control which will then display the ads? You can easily achieve this with the new ASP.NET AJAX Rotator functionality by setting a single property. See Demos

WCF service binding for RadTagCloud – Telerik’s ASP.NET AJAX TagCloud is adding one of the last missing features with this release – ability to bind it dynamically to WCF services. See Demos

Client templates – You know that for true client-side binding you need to be able to create customized look and feel for the data items on the client. We also know it, and starting with the ListView in Q1 2012, which uses client templates for its client-side binding, we continue with more controls with this release. Among them are RadComboBox, RadTreeView, RadMenu and RadListBox. Our ASP.NET AJAX Grid also gives you the ability to define client templates. See Demos

Enhanced ToolTips for RadRibbonBar – Add more descriptive tooltips to the commands displayed in your RibbonBar controls, just as the ones you see in MS Office :) See demos

Multi-column headers for RadGrid – Last in my quick trip comes the new functionality of our ASP.NET AJAX Grid providing you the ability to have multi-column headers. And this is really easy to configure and easy to add to current grids as the logic for the multi-headers is separated from the columns definition itself. See Demos
