Earlier this week, Telerik Dev Labs released yet another pack of updates for our WinForms UI components. Q3'12 Service Pack 1 for RadControls for WinForms brings with it a number of exciting new features – particularly around our data manipulation controls. Only a few weeks following its beta release, we enhanced RadPivotGrid with built-in support for data binding to an OLAP cube. Furthermore, we packed two new modern UI skins, one of which was inspired by Visual Studio 2012 and the other one helps you deliver even better touch user experience in your WinForms apps. Of course, the latest update also includes a bunch of bug fixes and performance enhancements based on the valuable feedback you provided. Keep reading to take a glimpse into the highlights listed below. Read more >>

  • In addition to the extra code navigation features introduced in JustCode 2012 Q2 SP2, we have made improvements for Visual Studio themes.  We focused on four main areas to support the new “Modern” user interface in VS2012: the general user interface (tool windows, popups, dialogs, etc.), options pages, the Visual Aid, and code colorization.

    General User Interface

The new Modern (formerly called “Metro”) interface in Visual Studio comes with two default themes – dark and light.  There is a new extension available for Visual Studio, called the “Visual Studio 2012 Color Theme Editor”, and we updated JustCode to work with the additional themes available through...

  • Just a few weeks after our successful Q2 2012 release which introduced the highly anticipated RadAutoCompleteBox and RadChartView, it is time for a service pack. RadControls for WinForms Service Pack 1 is out and available for download. As always, we packed the latest update with a bunch of hot fixes and improvements throughout the whole suite. However, this time there is some exciting news! With this service pack, I would like to officially introduce the first public version of RadPivotGrid for WinForms! This early version comes in the form of Community Technology Preview and supports all the basic features – grouping,...

  • We keep a close track of the latest trends and we know how popular HTML5 and CSS are these days. That is why while implementeing our new theme engine, which we presented in our previous blog, we added a small, but powerful styling feature  and in this blog we want to tell you more about it.
CSS-like syntax for WinForms by Telerik

Until now there were two ways to create new themes for RadControls. The first one is to use the Visual Style Builder tool (http://www.telerik.com/products/winforms/tools.aspx) and to create or modify an existing theme. The other way is a bit tricky as you should edit an XML...

  • We suppose you have already read the Q2 2012 Announcement blog for WinForms and have noticed the three new great controls that we developed for you – RadChartView, RadAutoCompleteBox and RadTextBoxControl. We also feel, however, that one of the big new things about Q2 2012 may remain unnoticed in the bunch of innovations. Therefore, we decided to dedicate a separate blog post to it. This improvement concerns one of the most important things for each and every application – performance. Namely, in our latest release we introduced a new and improved theming engine. It minimizes the startup time for your application and...

  • We are proud to announce the first major release of RadControls for WinForms for this year, where we worked towards expanding and optimizing the whole suite.

To start off, I can say that we introduced a fully refurbished RadTreeView control with new UI and data layers which allow it to bind several times faster!

Of course, we are trying not only to optimize the existing products, but to offer new components in the suite as well. By popular demand, we developed a brand new control that helps you break a complex process into separate steps – RadWizard. Additionally, in the spirit of...

  • With the number of the themes in our suite constantly increasing (two more are coming in Q1 2011) it will surely take some time to review all of them for the different controls. This may sound like a simple problem, however the plot thickens when you are creating a new theme and you would like to know whether your forms look properly with your custom theme, and whether you are not missing an unstyled element here and there.

As a result, in Q1 2011 we will introduce a new tool that solve these issues for you, and will save you time...

  • As you all know Telerik always strives to follow the latest UI innovations and improvements that the software market offers. With the release of Microsoft Office 2010 we turned our eyes and efforts into creating a theme that covers this style. As a result in Q3 2010 we introduced the Office2010 theme which followed the silverish look of Microsoft Office 2010.

However, we did not stop there. We wanted to provide the full color palette that Office2010 provides. This is why the Telerik Office2010 theme is going to be followed by new fellow themes – Office2011Black and Office2010Silver:
    RibbonBlue

    Office2010Blue

    RibbonBlack

    Office2010Black

    RibbonSilver

    Office2010Silver

    You should be...

  • As always, Telerik's plans were closely aligned with Microsoft's release schedule, and we were dedicated to provide VS2010 support even before Visual Studio 2010 was officially launched. Now that the first VS2010 launch event is over, here comes the first of many Telerik Service Packs to support VS2010.

This RadControls for WinForms release is the first to provide support for the Client Profile, introduced with .NET3.5, and now default when starting new windows forms projects with VS2010. The Client Profile is a smaller version of the.NET Framework that includes only the assemblies needed for deploying client-based applications, which in turn reduces the size of...
