• Our primary goal is to help you stay ahead of the technology curve. This is why we are often adding new skins (we now have 23!) so that your web sites and apps look trendy. The thing is, we can no longer support such a large number of skins and if we want to continue adding new, more modern skins, we need to stop the support for some old and not that popular ones: Forest, Hay, Simple, Sunset, Sitefinity and Transparent. Read more about how the transition will happen.
  • Read on for a deeper insight in our newest skins to see the direction we are taking. Is HTML5 and CSS3 the path you want us to walk? Go comment and let us know!
  • Writing CSS tends to be mundane for the most part of it. Yes, it has truly exciting moments in a twisted kind of way, but for the majority of the time it's the same thing line after line, after line, after line… Thankfully, we have Sass

  • The current situation

The major browsers offer the option to zoom the entire page rather than just increase the font size. This is an important accessibility feature, which is often used not only by people with vision impairments, but also by users that, for different reasons, need to see the page smaller or larger.

Usually we zoom to increase the font size but, since the browser zooms the entire page, visual glitches could appear when the layout is based on background images and/or sprites. It will not ruin the page accessibility but will leave a feeling that the UI is not structured very well. And we don’t want...

  • Have you ever experienced difficulties with hitting a button on a touch screen because of the button’s small size? Haven’t you wished texts were larger so you don’t need to zoom-in to read?

No more troubles - our new MetroTouch skin for Telerik’s ASP.NET AJAX controls is coming on board with Q2 2012, expected in about a week!

    The Dimensions

    Fingertip - 11mm - 32px

Dimensions are the biggest difference introduced in the MetroTouch skin. Almost every UI element has its regions and boundaries adjusted to a touch-friendly size of around 11mm at 72dpi per clickable area.

Mean percentage of erroneous trials for each...

  • With RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX we are committed to building great looking UI for you. Rich HTML, Javascript and CSS work together to provide a professional look and feel for your next generation applications. You can imagine there would be a solid amount of web resources our controls use to achieve that. Still, we keep the bag tidy and free the developer from deploying myriads of files on various development, testing and production environments. Everything is shipped neatly in a couple of assemblies you reference in your project.  How do we do that? We use embedded resources. In this blog post...

  • Probably all of us have identified at some point the following trend in software development — newer version usually means bigger assemblies. Sure, some of the new stuff is features that we use on a daily basis; but some of the new stuff is just eye candy that we don't always use.

In fact, wouldn't it be nice if we could get just the software with the default looks; get the job done then and, if needed, add that sweet UI candy to it later?

And in order to tackle this problem — maintain a reasonable file size of the main Telerik...

  • As Q2 2011 official release is on its way we would like to share with you part of the visuals the AJAX teams have been working on lately:

Office2010 Blue, Silver and Black skins

    SchedulerOffice2010Blue

The Office2010 appearance is a natural continuation of the Outlook and Office2007 skins. It resembles Microsoft® Office® 2010 look and feel, bringing to the AJAX world the ultimate Office-like web experience. Unlike our Office2007 skin, which is available in Blue theme only, we are now releasing all three Office2010 variations. Making use of the distinctive colors and smooth gradients, just a scroll away – see the new Office2010...
