Client-Side Data Binding in the RadGrid

by ASP.NET AJAX Team | Comments 5

RadTips - Title - Original Over the past several weeks I started a new video series, called RadTips, which demonstrates how to use specific features of Telerik controls. The first four episodes of the series was dedicated to the new client-side data binding feature of the RadGrid for ASP.NET AJAX. This feature is only available with the RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX Q2 2008, our latest release of the control suite. Each episode showed how to implement a specific RadGrid feature when binding to data on the client. If you haven't had a chance to watch them, I highly recommend taking a few minutes to check them out. Each episode is fairly short (5-10 minutes).

Before I move on to other topics and other controls, I wanted to share one last demo which brings the last four videos together. This demo combines the techniques shown in all 4 episodes into a single grid. While this one is similar in many ways to the existing demo on Telerik.com, it differs in that it uses other technologies. Instead of SQL Server as the data source, this demo uses LINQ to XML and the LINQ Dynamic Query Library to retrieve and page/sort/filter data with the RadGrid. It is available for download in C# and VB, and there is a live demo as well. Enjoy it, and keep watching!

Hello Kevin, Do you mind sending me your visual studio color settings ... the color you use in the video are pretty cool, and I would like to be able to use the same. Thanks in advance ... now I'll pursue my Client-Side actin by watching the videos.

Hi Kevin,

Wow i am late, i didnt know this, i wish i can redo all my stuff using client binding!

May i know if:

Client Binding allows the client  (user's broswer in this context) to directly connects to the services (ws/wcf/dataservices). But from the example, i didnt see any parameters or declaration meant for for authentication/security. Am i right to say Client binding is not suitable for sensitive content? Pls correct me if i am wrong
