Q3’10 Pre-Release Series: OpenAccess ORM Adds Support for Spatial Types, New LINQ 2 SQL Converter and SDK

With Q3 2010 OpenAccess ORM will introduce some much requested, by the community, features and offer a new and innovative way for developers to get started and learn how to use the tool faster. Here are some of the highlights:

Spatial types

After Q3 2010 users will be able to use spatial types, such as the geography type, in their projects and map to data that is stored in the form of coordinates and topology.

LINQ 2 SQL Converter

The new version of OpenAccess ORM will also let people easily convert old LINQ 2 SQL projects to OpenAccess ones and take advantage of the ORM’s extended functionality.

OpenAccess ORM SDK

In addition with Q3 2010 we will introduce a new OpenAccess SDK that will feature ORM code samples that users will be able to run locally on their machines. The OpenAccess SDK will include the new series of examples for using OpenAccess in N-tier scenarios. It will also provide access to helpful resources, through the getting started portal which will feature selected articles, videos and demos.

New Fluent API features

The new version of OpenAccess ORM will feature an updated version of the Fluent API, introduced with the previous release, which will include:

  • Ability to configure inheritance and default mappings
  • Ability to extend existing models
  • Support for artificial types and properties
