Roger that! We are excited to let you know that RadControls for Windows Phone 8 are now available for download, released simultaneously with the official launch of the WP8 developer platform today at /build//. Less than two weeks after the last release of RadControls, we are shipping a new version of the product, with full support for Windows Phone 8 that leverages the platform’s new features and offers speech recognition support as well as a responsive image control.

See what’s hot:

  • Speech Recognition support – end-users can navigate and interact with your app using their voice. We’ve created a demo to show you one of the thousands possible implementations of this functionality in your application. The Telerik Speech Recognition API is still in CTP and your feedback is very welcome.

This 1 minute video demonstrates how we’ve extended the Telerik Picture Gallery sample app (with source code available) to support voice commands for navigation between pages and browsing through pictures.

Other new functionalities shipped with this release include:

  • New MultiResolutionImage control – Windows Phone 8 supports new display resolutions up to 1280x768 and Telerik RadControls make it easy for developers to display the appropriate images in their apps, according to the device resolution through its MultiResolutionImage control.
  • DataForm control – this new component allows you to automatically generate the UI for your input forms, with support for validation and custom layouts.

  • All controls styles have been updated to match the native Windows Phone 8 user experience.

Last but not least, we have a very exciting piece of news to share. It’s coming from Nokia and Telerik. And this time it is not about the next amazing device. Nokia has just announced its Premium Developer Program to help you get a jump-start with Windows Phone development. Developers who join will receive RadControls for Windows Phone free as part of the program’s benefits.
