Microsoft surprised pleasantly developers announcing that Windows 8.1 RTM has just been released to MSDN/TechNet subscribers and volume licensees, contrary to the company’s previous announcement that developers won't be getting early access to the bits.

Windows 8.1 release brings many enhancements to the operating system and to how you can write applications. Among the new stuff it introduces changes to the design guidelines, app settings and new tile size.  Windows 8.1 is better than 8.0 – better for users and better for developers. Read more in Jesse Liberty’s blog post about what’s new in Windows 8.1 for developers.

Telerik controls for Windows 8 are now ready for this latest version and fully support the additions brought up by the Windows 8.1 update. You can continue leverage advanced out-of-the-box functionality with RadControls in new Windows 8.1 applications.

With the upcoming Q3 release we will be shipping RadControls for Windows 8.1 natively built against the latest version of the OS. Thus, we will deliver even better performance, rendering and improvements all over the controls.
