Telerik UI for Android debuting with a Powerful Holo-inspired Chart Library

Telerik's native mobile UI family becomes stronger with today’s Beta release of UI for Android. The suite is built from the ground up to deliver fast loading, excellent drawing capabilities and pixel-perfectness on any device and screen-size running Android. UI for Android bridges missing functionalities in the native offering starting with a Chart library which demonstrates the level of refinement and advanced features you can expect from upcoming Telerik controls.

 

We spent considerate effort on building a simple and straightforward API so that you can easily integrate our chart in your app using your preferred IDE. In result you can visualize various types of data with a few lines of code without worrying about performance, memory usage issues and user experience. We made sure our charts are compatible with all Android API levels back to API Level 9 so that you can safely use Telerik Android chart engine across wider range of devices on which your app will be running.

On the front-end side we have a couple of predefined palettes which follow the Android Holo paradigm so you don’t need to spend time looking for the right color combinations.

Another important feature of the chart is the way it handles user interaction. Pan and Zoom allow you to seamlessly scroll or zoom the data currently plotted on your chart. We have additionally implemented a smart UI rendering approach which draws only the relevant data points contributing to a really great experience for your end-users.

The first version of the chart features all essential chart series:

• Line and Spline series
• Line Area and Spline Area
• Bar series
• Range Bar series
• Pie and Doughnut series

Additionally the following Axes are available:

• Categorical
• Numerical and Logarithmic
• Date Time linear and DateTime categorical

To enable a  true custom look and feel, we have implemented a set of annotations which you can use to pin-point important parts of your chart area. You can even design your own annotations for better integration with the user experience of your app.

You can visualize any types of data, adjust the way the plot area looks or use our predefined palettes, enable smooth user interaction and add annotations. And this is just what we’re starting with.
