RadControls for Silverlight 3 now available

Silverlight 3 Beta for developers was unveiled at MIX09 last week. We created a separate build of Telerik RadControls for Silverlight3. Download the bits here (it is available in your client.net account under Downloads > RadControls for Silverlight > Latest Internal Builds).

There are no new features to the controls, only that they are compiled against the Silverlight 3 runtime. You can download the controls now and enjoy the latest features added to the Microsoft Silverlight3 platform.

Please note that Silverlight3 is a developer beta release only! This means there is no “go-live” licensing available and the end-user runtime of Silverlight 3 is not available.

If you have any feedback on what you would like Telerik to create for the Silverlight3 platform - please let us know. Our main focus for the Q2 release will be mainly on the Silverlight2 platform. We will be adding the Silverlight3 features once the Silvrelight3 runtime has a “go-live” license.

    Delivered as promised... Great job guys! I have not worked with the other teams at Telerik, but the SL team has always been right on time. Thank you guys!

    As far SL3 features goes, I hope the Cube and FlowControl will use the new 3D perspective feature and the RADGrid and MaskEditors will use the new Validation system.

    Although the Ria Services is supporting the ASP.Net security system, but they are missing all the UI controls to use them that are available in ASP.Net:
    Login Control
    Create new user control
    Password Forgot control
    Logged in user control
    and etc.
    Since Telerik is the master of UI, I hope you guys can provide support for these missing controls.

    Now that SL3 is moving towards LoB applications, creating Data entry forms become very needed. I would like to make a couple of sussestions:
    a) A simple solution: Can you give us an enhanced version of Grid layout that work similar to HTML table where we can easily define the rows and columns right at when decaring the grid and the default will be equal distribution?
    b) Composite solution: Can you give us a visual dataform that we can build dataforms using your editors that can be connected to data? Similar to MS Dataform but using Telerik RADEditors.

    If the reporting doesn't make it soon, would it be possible that we can use your report system at server but give a reporting "Viewer" that we can use in SL client to show to end user?

    I would love to see a carousel now that silverlight supports 3d transforms. I'm sure you guys already thought of that but just in case...

    I'd like to see a Silverlight control for an animated toolbar to work like the Mac OSX Dock where as you hover over the icons they grow and then contract back to normal size when the mouse moves off them. Thanks.

    Hi,

    I just downloaded the radcontrols build for SL 3 Beta , and also the internal build bits
    RadControls_For_Silverlight3_2009.1.501_trial.zip

    still i'm unable to open the radgrid VS 2008 Samples , though i can view all the demo in the browser.

    Please help.

    I am getting the following error when using the RabMenu:

    System.InvalidOperationException: The DOM/scripting bridge is disabled.

       at Telerik.Windows.Controls.MenuBase..ctor()
       at Telerik.Windows.Controls.RadMenu..ctor() [Line: 0 Position: 0]
       --- Inner Exception ---
    The DOM/scripting bridge is disabled.


    This happened when I disable the HTML DOM Bridge in the application.

    The current version of the Rad Controls is the trail version, Q1 2009.

    Do I need to buy the license version?

    Does the Rad Controls require the HTML DOM Bridge?

    Controls I'd like from Telerik for Silverlight:

    Property-grid control / vertically-oriented grid with the ability to assign custom editors to rows, including a Rich Text editor.

    The Rich Text editor should provide an "ellipsis mode" where an ellipsis button is displayed whenever the text is too much to fit in the box allocated. Clicking on the ellipsis button should "zoom" the text into a larger "hovering" window with a vertical scrollbar when appropriate.   This ellipsis mode should work regardless of how many lines are displayed at first, and regardless of whether the text has been set to wrap.
