Telerik announces native controls for Silverlight 4 Release Candidate.

Thursday, March 18, 2010 by Nikolay Atanasov | Comments 6

Right after the official release of Silverlight 4 Release Candidate (at MIX) Telerik has prepared for you a native build of RadControls for Silverlight that are built on the latest platform’s release. The download can be found under the users’ accounts or as part of the Latest Internal Build. The download files are clearly marked with RadControls for Silverlight 4 RC.

We will keep on updating the files with each Latest Internal Build. The RadControls for Silverlight 4 RC is still a preview version of RadControls for Silverlight 4 that will become official as soon as Microsoft announces the RTW version of Silverlight 4.

Just to add an additional comment here, for those who have not done a full auto install and still want to have access to the samples, they should pick the first zip (Manual installation) and do an unzip and get ride of other folders but DEMOS. This is where all the sample demos are.

    Hope this helps!

    Great, thanks.
What is different to the previous SL builds?
    Any new behaviors or features?
Do we need to use this build for the SL4 RC?

    Thanks for clarifying.

Eric, to my understanding, it is the same product as Q1, but built against/for RC. So, if you're running VS10 and SL4RC, you need the RAD SL4RC.

Ben, I was asking, because since the release of SL4RC, I was developing/testing with the RAD SL4 Q1 without any problems. Seemed they were working fine. So I didn't see any advantage using RAD RC build. But after your remarks, I will switch to avoid any problems.
    Thanks
    Eric

Eric, if Telerik added a new build, I'm pretty sure they thought it might be a good idea, even though "you" may have not run into any glitch. But just to be on safe side, I'll use the RC version. Just my two cents!

is there somewhere we can see the difference between the features of your silverlight 3 and silverlight 4 controls set?  this would help us understand the benefits to determine how quickly we should migrate to 4.0 after it's release, or even if we should consider installing and developing for 4.0 now so we are ready on the release date.
