We are excited to present you the Q1 2011 BETA release of Telerik Extensions for ASP.NET MVC! For everyone who is eager to know what we cooked for the next major release of the MVC bundle, please read on.

In addition to the official ASP.NET MVC 3 RTM and NuGet Package Manager support and the VS Extensions MVC3 project templates we announced with the Q3 2010 SP1 launch, three new extensions are joining the Telerik MVC UI components family:

  • Upload
  • Splitter
  • Slider

Furthermore, we enriched the set of Telerik MVC Grid features with some fresh additions like batch editing/updates, group aggregates and group header/footer templates, and page size combobox pager item. The MVC editor gets an important update as well by integrating Image Upload Dialog which makes use of the new MVC Upload extension. On top of that, we enhanced the mobile devices support of our MVC components and provided IE9 RC compatibility. Details are present in the forthcoming paragraphs.

Grid

  • Batch edits/updates - the editing mechanism of the grid is extended to allow quick and intuitive client edits clicking in row cells. The edited values are stored until another operation is triggered and can be discarded or processed as a batch transaction.

    Grid_BatchEditUpdate
  • Group aggregates and group header/footer templates - the grid now has the ability to calculate aggregates for groups automatically and output them into the group headers or footers. In addition, one can define own group header or footer templates and visualize values/content inside them.

    Grid_GroupAggregates_GroupTemplate
  • Page Size combobox item in pager - the existing grid pager exposes an option to display combobox to modify the page size value.

    Grid_PageSizeCombo

We will be happy to hear your comments/feedback for the new extensions and features introduced in the Q1 2011 Beta release in our public forums here. And stand by for an upcoming Telerik TV video demonstrating the enhanced mobile devices and IE9 RC support of our MVC extensions (it will most probably be briefly previewed during the Q1 2011 AJAX/MVC Webinar as well).
