Awesome! It took seconds to install and update all of my Telerik DevTools from the new Control Panel

“Words cannot describe the feelings I have for the new Control Panel. I don't have to recall what version I downloaded last time, and what I have installed. This will save countless hours. Thank you Telerik! Home Run!!!”

Tommy Wells, via the Telerik Support System

The new Telerik Control Panel allows you to quickly install and update all of your Developer Tools from a single application. It was revealed with Telerik’s Q2 DevTools release, and if you haven’t tried it yet, now is the time. The Control Panel will guide you through the update process of the products you already have installed. If you are new to Telerik, the Control Panel will present you with the countless developer tools we offer, and will help you with their initial setup.

Telerik Control Panel (Start Screen)

The Telerik Control Panel is a nice innovation in the developer market, and a real time-saver - there is no need to visit our site and download the tools that you need one by one. Just open the Control Panel from the Windows Start menu and it will give you all the information you are after.

You can download and install the Telerik Control Panel right away (3.8MB, free installation). Run it, log in, click on Install all products, and go grab a coffee. The integrated all-in-one installer will download and install the developer tools you have selected while you enjoy your drink.

Here is what the Control Panel will do for you:

  • Check the Telerik developer tools you have installed on your machine;
  • Update previous versions of all Telerik DevTools to their latest versions;
  • Install all of your purchased products at once;
  • Install all trials you have not installed at once;
  • Install all free developer tools that Telerik offers;
  • Update trial versions to purchased versions;
  • Auto-update itself;
  • Give you a feedback form to contact us.

How cool is that? Download the Telerik Control Panel to see it in action >>

For the next version of the Telerik Panel we will add desktop alerts when updates are available for all Telerik developer tools. Also in the next version we plan to add support for maintaining multiple DevTools versions - this is needed when you need to use more than one RadControls’ versions in different projects.

Here is a little contest for you. Share your ideas and suggestions of how we can improve the Control Panel experience, and we will send Telerik t-shirts to the top 10 ideas! Winners will be announced and contacted on July 20th.

Hi,
Until the multiple version control panel is done it would be handy for people to be warned when the old version is about to be removed.
The best functionality that I can think of is for it to do a search on the hard disk for the telerik dlls, form a table with a list of all solutions using them along with their version they are on then finally allow the user to choose which apps to upgrade and which to leave as is.
Oh and a set of better highlights about breaking changes would be handy.
Finally, have it write the software for us :)

Jon

Nice to catch up with Infragistics on this. They had these features from 11.1 version onwards in their wrapper. As above customer told, better to have a list of breaking changes will help everyone.

Very nice, love the look and feel.

Would be nice to see what benefits I'd get from an available upgrade, I don’t usually risk destabilizing under construction projects with an upgrade unless I see some relevant improvements.

Also, it shows I have purchased kendo for mvc + have it as a trial, the trial is incorrect.

You may also want to consider making it one of your sample projects with source, if you feel its appropriate.

It would be nice if we could define our own list of products we actually use and have that list stored and shared in the cloud like the just code settings. So up on the top All , Purchased, Trial, etc, add a Favorites or what ever. When a new developer starts on a team or an existing one needs to rebuild their desktop, they would just launch the control panel with the cloud settings and know what they need to have installed.
Andy
Oh and to add to that last thought.... Add the ability to define a preferred version per product and offer that version as the default. So if I rebuild my machine and the rest of my team is on Q1 2012 of asp.net ajax offer that as the default version but still let me pick the latest if I wanted to play around with the newer toys :)

Thank you..  I've just switched to the new Control Panel installer it makes life so much easier/quicker.
Well done..
Keep up the amazing work.

I would suggest the ability to see the differences in the new version from your current version. What features and changes to expect. Nothing is worse than doing an upgrade and find out you guys made changes that break. Also the ability to install older versions if needed. If these are there they are not apparent. But a good job overall. I like the ease of install.

Last year when i bought your controls, I was little disappointed with the dashboard to download the controls, but with this update you guys not only fulfilled the disappointment but achieved a lot more than i can imagine. You just proved the point of using telerik control.

First, I just want to say that the new Telerik Control Panel is amazing.  It really simplifies updating all the Telerik tools at the same time.
Here's the feature requests I already submitted via a support ticket:
* Add an option to view changelogs/version notes
* Enable updating to internal builds (probably would be an opt-in option only)
* Add a "launch" button after install for tools with their own application (i.e. JustDecompile, Just Trace, etc).
* When you drill down into an installed product, it says "INSTALLED" and then in green text says "PURCHASED" followed by the current version.  This can be confusing because it looks like it's saying that's the version I purchased, not the version that's currently installed.  It might make more sense to put the version first, and then after it, put "(TRIAL)" or "(LICENSED/DEV/FULL)"
Thanks again for this great tool!  It will really help with each quarter's release.

I like 'Telerik Control Panel'. I think you can add background download service, if user select that option. I love background services ;)
Another great feature will be 'Ticket Submission'
Regards.

I'd love it if you could add in Sitefinity and allow me to download multiple licenses with one download button. I have over 20 sites that run similar architecture and when I update one, I update them all. Being able to download multiple licenses would save a ton of time.

Love the new control panel
- if the actual version is purchased - don't display "trial version" download - just clutters the view
- pls fix failed installs issue - had problems installing WP controls after others successfully installed - without any explanation it would fail

It would be amazing if there a way to upgrade existing projects through CP, instead of needing to open the project in VS and use the Upgrade Wizard. If CP could be made "aware" of projects created after it was installed, it would be quite handy to have it present an interface to optionally upgrade projects that use the product you just upgraded.
Also allow for manual project upgrades, either by selecting a product, a project or both. If a product is selected, CP will attempt to find all projects using an older version than the installed version, if a project is selected, CP will update all products used by that project that are older than installed version and if both are selected, it will update the specified product in the selected project if it is older than the installed version.
Add Sitefinity to the available products along with the ability to upgrade as described above.
Allow for downloading/installing older versions and allow for management of  versions in projects.
Michael Sogos
A good thing for you is to integrate a feedback system for every product installed and a quick find for kb.
Vassil Petev, Telerik
Thank you all for your positive words! It is rewarding to know that the Control Panel will help you with managing your licenses. We also see some amazing feedback, which has already been sent to the product team for further review.
