Happy New Year to Everybody!

Time does fly fast! More than a year ago, I wrote a blog post about the then upcoming 2008 and just a wink later it's already 2009! Last year was one that passed by at light speed... I've noticed that when you are at work and you're focused on the daily grind, you often see only the challenges and think about how slow you are progressing. It's great that there are holidays when you slow down a bit and you have time to look back and see that things are much different.

At New Year's Eve my wife and I were reminiscing about what had happened during 2008. Needless to say, being able to pause and take everything into perspective regarding Telerik was very special  – 3 new product lines (ORM, Silverlight and WPF), 2 acquisitions, solid growth of the team, Top 5 SME Employer award again, participation at numerous industry events, opening of a German office, strategic investment partnership with Summit Partners, and many many other notable things.

It seems that 2009 won't be much different. You'll continue to enjoy new exciting things from us. I feel very tempted to share some details but I will not spoil the surprise. For a person who's not really good at keeping secrets, all I can say is that in the last challenge I ran on this blog there were 0 correct answers. So, it will be very entertaining for all and perhaps enlightening to an extent, to  read your predictions for 2009 in the blog comments below...

Before I digress any further, I'd like to extend our team's best wishes to all readers of this blog. Whether you are a customer or prospect, partner or competitor – we wish you all a great 2009! May the new year bring a lot of positive emotions to everyone. While it might not be the easiest period for many people and businesses, I am optimistic that we will collectively weather the storm.

Once again, Best Wishes for a Very Successful and Happy 2009!

I predict a jQuery based suite in 2009 to match the ASP AJAX suite.

    Hi Vassil;
Happy New Year to you too and all the team members. I became involved with your company starting last year as a beta tester for the Silverlight suite and as someone who has been in IT for some time (since 1975), I would categorized Telerik as one of the best companies I've worked with. One thing that I've noticed very clearly about your company, is the team's great attitude and their pride in their products. It reminds of a German company I used to work with who cared very much about quality and responsiveness. I've worked closely with Valentin and he is a great representative of the company.
I think you should be proud of running a useful company!
My best wishes to you and your team!
    ..Ben

Hi Vassil, And a happy new year to you and your family. Yes, time goes by to fast, my old friend. Remember to enjoy and feel life and especially people arround you. I can not guess what you will come up with next, it could be everything from games to x-box, wiii and playstation to an OO-database engine, maybe you will enter the the film production scene in India, I really dont now - but I am, as allways, looking forward to find out :-)

    Hi Ben,

Thanks for the kind words. There truly is a sense of pride in the products people make and support and we're trying to get better every day. Valentin, Valeri and the other guys are doing amazing things in our Silverlight group and you will see some pretty exciting stuff from them. The even better news is that it won't be limited to just Silverlight:) Stay tuned:)

It's going to be a great year for everyone working with Telerik products.

    Hey Bo,

How are you my friend? I remember the day we were haivng beers in Amsterdam and it feels both like it was yesterday and as if it were ages ago. You really were a prophet and predicted Telerik's success back then:) Five years later, we have not forgotten your advice to stay firmly on the ground and to never get complacent as a team. I hope you, as a customer and friend, see us moving in the right direction and I look forward to continuing our relationship for many years ahead.

The comment about the movie scene in India made me laugh sincerely. You uncovered the secret for 2010:)

@Chris - you're partly right. Our plans are to further extend the ways in which we use jQuery in our ASP.NET AJAX UI suite and allow you to do even greater stuff with our controls. The goal - to offer super solid capabilities + all the jQuery goodness in an easy to use way.

jQuery is certainly the best choice when it comes to javascript libraries. By implementing jQuery into the telerik controls, you will give the developers a very very easy way to implement great enhancements to the code and UI.
