Win a Samsung Omnia 7 Windows Phone for Doing Next to Nothing!

Oh boy, should we call this one MetroUI for WinForms? It’s your call…

If you have been following Telerik’s Windows Forms roadmap, you probably have noticed that we plan to introduce several cool and requested features, which however do not match the latest design patterns in the IT world. Did you really think that we were going to introduce just these features? Did you? Well, you are wrong. :-)

With the introduction of the Windows 8 preview at the /BUILD// conference, it became clear that Microsoft will push the Metro design concept to all of its products. We welcome this stance! The new Metro UI is slick, polished, yet simple and allows users to flawlessly interact with touch-enabled devices. As a result, we are going to introduce not only multi-touch support across the whole RadControls for Windows Forms suite, but a brand new control that will simulate the behavior of the Metro UI that Windows 8 incorporates:

Telerik's yet unnamed control for Windows Forms
Telerik's yet unnamed control for Windows Forms.

This new control will allow you to represent a small amount of data in the form of tiles that the end-user will be able to smoothly scroll left or right with a gesture, just like in Win8, and to reorder the tiles with drag and drop.

Here comes fun part. We still do not have a name for this control! And we need your help to come up with a cool and meaningful name for this new buddy. Send us your suggestion(s) in Twitter (or thru the comments below) before the end of Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011 and get a chance to win!

Tweet the following (just copy/paste it in Twitter):

YourIdeaHere. I’m going for Samsung Omnia 7! http://tlrk.it/t6iA6Q #WinOmnia #wp7 #Telerik

(For example: MetroUI. I’m going for Samsung Omnia 7! http://tlrk.it/t6iA6Q #WinOmnia #wp7 #Telerik)

The #WinOmnia hash tag validates your entry. We will review and discuss all suggestions, and if we pick yours, and you are the first to pitch the particular suggestion, you will be the happy owner of a brand new Samsung Omnia 7 Windows Phone. The winner will be announced on Friday, Nov. 11th in Twitter from the @Telerik account, and in the comments under this blog.

And if you are into Windows Forms, or any .NET development for that matter, check out our modern WinForms controls and give them a 60-day trial spin. You’ll be surprised how slick they are.

  • Thank you all for participating in this exciting game! We received over160 unique suggestions, and we almost had a tie between two of these!
Join Telerik in congratulating @olsonkayla for proposing the best name for our newest Windows Forms control: RadPanorama. The name encapsulates the purpose of the control, and also correspondsto the original Windows Phone panorama view. The second best suggestionwas RadTileView.
    Congrats, Kayla!
